STEAM Your Way to College is a summer program specifically designed for culturally and linguistically diverse learners from local schools. In this program, students are introduced to epistemological ideas and cultural aspects of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, broadly construed as STEAM, disciplines. Students explore STEAM topics, knowledge and practices, using various everyday making objects. They engage in asking questions, collecting evidence, engaging in argumentation about different social, environments, and societal issues, and use their funds of knowledge and combine them with STEAM concepts and tools introduced during the program to make projects for a social and transformative change. Students work closely with graduate students and faculty members from STEAM disciplines.
